As a hardcore WordPress developer, it might surprise some of you to hear that I've recently made the switch to Hashnode as my blogging platform of choice. In this post, I'll explain my reasons for this decision and share my experience using Hashnode as a developer.

Why Hashnode & What I ❤️ About Hashnode?

Firstly, I love that Hashnode is cloud-hosted and completely free. This makes it an accessible option for bloggers of all levels, without the need to worry about hosting or maintenance costs.

Additionally, Hashnode's support for Markdown is a huge plus for me, as I'm already familiar with this format from my work on GitHub.

Plus, the built-in social share features are a nice touch that makes it easy to promote my posts and engage with readers.

Finally, I've found that Hashnode is much lighter and faster than WordPress, which makes for a better user experience overall.

Why Not WordPress?

Although WordPress does offer a hosted service for free through WordPress.com, and it is possible to add the features I mentioned above using plugins, it is still unlikely to make the site as lightweight and fast as Hashnode.

While WordPress began as a platform for personal blogging and had the tagline "Blog Platform", it has since evolved into a platform that can be used to create a wide range of websites.

I want to emphasize that my decision to choose Hashnode over WordPress does not mean that I dislike WordPress.

On the contrary, I still ❤️ using WordPress and plan to continue developing plugins for it.

Conclusion

In conclusion, after trying out both WordPress and Hashnode, I have found that Hashnode is a more suitable platform for my personal blogging needs. Its cloud hosting, built-in social sharing, support for Markdown, and faster performance make it a more streamlined and efficient option. However, this does not mean that I dislike WordPress. As a developer, I still appreciate its versatility and will continue to develop plugins for it. Ultimately, the choice between WordPress and Hashnode comes down to personal preference and the specific needs of each blogger.
